Wizard 101 Update SOON!

UPCOMING WIZARD101 EXPANSIONS INCLUDE SEVENTH WORLD AND NEW PET CAPABILITIES
New world, advanced pet system and level cap increase included in two Wizard101 content updates

PLANO, TEXAS (March 24, 2010) – KingsIsle Entertainment, creators of the award-winning massively multiplayer online game (MMO) Wizard101 is proud to announce details on two of the major content updates for 2010. An extensive Advanced Pet system is launching this spring and the world of Celestia is launching late summer. In addition to all new quests the Celestia expansion will also include an increased level cap and new secondary schools of magic.

Coming this spring, players will have the opportunity to hatch customized pets from millions of potential combinations. The Advanced Pet system will bring a new dimension of interaction within Wizard101 as players can race their pets in the expansive Pet Derby, participate in new pet-themed minigames, feed and train them, and use them as allies in magic duels. Players will be able to level their pets from an egg to ancient beings with incredible powers.

The new world of Celestia is inspired by Atlantis, and young Wizards will encounter new adventures and quests deep under the sea. Celestia also increases the level cap in Wizard101 from level 50 up to level 60, as well as introducing three new secondary schools of magic. Celestia will officially open in late summer. Starting in June players can undertake new quests to discover the secrets of this new world and begin to unlock the story behind Celestia.

“2010 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the students of Ravenwood School of Magic,” said J. Todd Coleman, Vice President and Creative Director for KingsIsle Entertainment. “Whether exploring the underwater kingdom of Celestia, or hatching and training pets to participate in the Pet Derby, every player–from the newest apprentice to the returning grandmaster–will find something compelling, engaging and fun.”

In Wizard101, kids and families enter the magical world of Wizard City as student Wizards setting out to hone their Wizard skills, cast spells and summon powerful creatures to fight evil forces. The characters and worlds of Wizard101 are influenced by literature, history and pop culture, giving the game a depth and quality appreciated by families and players of all ages.

Wizard101 can be downloaded at www.Wizard101.com and offers free game play for as long as players choose. Players seeking access to premium areas and items may purchase pre-paid cards in participating stores or purchase a subscription or Crowns online. New worlds, activities, pets and Wizard clothing are periodically added to the game, creating an ever-changing world with new things to see and do.

Increasing Winged Mount Boss Drops

Quoting from a list of coming bug fixes on Wizard101.com...
"Wing Mounts on Bosses: it seems many young Wizards are diligently looking for the new Winged Mounts on the high level bosses of the Spiral.

We've just discovered that they're not dropping at a high enough rate, and we will be adjusting this rate in the future.

Until then, give the poor bosses a break and continue with your adventures in the Spiral. We will let you know when the drop rate has been reset."

Sounds like farming might pick up drammatically if this fix is made!

Knowledge Keepers Tower in Tower Archives

There's an interesting little (and I do mean little) tower in the Tower Archives. It's at the very end on the left. You won't see lights but you can enter anyway.

On the second floor my friends and I went on a little tourist trip and got into the treasure vault. Not only that we were able to peek through walls and see the other floors of the tower.

Check out the images below.

Taunting Malistaire With Wizard City Spells

In this video, my friends and I set up Malistaire for the ultimate humiliation... Death by the Imp spell.

How many times over would this have killed him?

Using XP Boost Elixirs

There is a crown item for sale called an XP boost elixir. You can get them by crows or by getting a score of about 500,000 on wizard blox.

If you do happen to try one of these, here is my advice.

Use this boost in situations where you are going to turn in a lot of quests quickly. The XP boost lasts only for 10 minutes so this means in most Dragonspyre quests you may only turn in 2 quests with the boost actually acive. So try to maximize the time you have the elixir operational. Take it just before turning in a big quest and then go as fast as you can.

Good places to use this would probably be Crimson Fields in Mooshu, maybe some instances in Krock.

Reading the book in Merle Ambrose's Office

Wizard101 contains thoughtful hidden-in-plain-sight detail that gives mystery seekers something to look forward to if they are observant enough. Here's what I gleaned from the book that sits on the lectern in Merle Ambrose's office. Words I couldn't read are replaced by question marks in the text below. Check out the contents of the book below:

Real wizards will tell you the tales
of their Adventures. Some will
twist the truth of these tales to keep your attention. But do not
sell the lessons in these stories short. These
will advantage the mature to the strong. ? ?
will use on the surface.

Dragons to Griffins all have tales of their
own. The greatest ? is magic ? ?
? creatures and the lands that they make
their homes. Study these creatures and the
elements in the spiral be ? the
? wizards of the magic and practice each
day here in Wizard City.

I hope that by the end of this book that not
only will you be able to do the spells, but
to understand the supporting magic that
gives these spells life.

To memorize ? and ? is the thing.
To truly advance you must learn the ?
and ? of what you are attempting.

Just remember that you are ultimately
responsible for every spell that you cast, both
good and bad. The Wizard law these ? ?
absolute. So be very careful when
attempting ? spells. Concentrate on your
end goal and all will be as it should.

If you happen to decipher the remaining words or have corrections please let me know and I'll complete the translation.

Pets and Possibilities

I got to wondering, as I'm sure you did as well... what new pet features will be available?

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the future.

Rubbing the crystal ball...
Ommmmmm, Ommmmmm, Ommmmmm

I predict that pets will be able to join in battle, maybe a hint that they may be able to use cards you pick for their deck.

I predict that pets will be able to level up, possibly adding stats to both of you as you level up.

I predict that new quests may be opened in wizard city possibly new pet related quests there.

I predict a level 50 tower opening in Krockatopia.

I predict a new world Called Celestia based on the signs of the zodiac.

Could Celestia be the balance world then? Since balance is a middle-ground, a place between places, could Celestia be a world between worlds? hmmmm

And may our pets be able to transport us there?

After these specific predictions I need to double check them against the really accurate decision maker...

Spring Announcement from Merle Ambrose

Ravenwood School of Magical Arts Welcomes Spring Competition

WIZARD CITY, The Spiral (March 5, 2010) – The winds of spring are blowing across Wizard City, and with them come the fresh spirit of competition. Inspired by Earth’s finest athletes at their winter games, Wizards from every school and many worlds of the Spiral are ready to set forth on grand new adventures with their loyal pets alongside them, with exciting new activities and fresh challenges soon to come.

When asked what’s in store for pet-owners, Merle Ambrose, headmaster of Ravenwood School of Magical Arts, replied: “This spring, pets will be able to do more than you have ever dared hope! These fine creatures will serve alongside you in wonderful new ways, taking you to unseen parts of familiar worlds, and in time to come, worlds beyond those you know! If you think you have seen all that the Spiral has to offer, young Wizard, you will soon discover an all new breed of entertainment!”

When asked to elaborate, Ambrose replied cryptically, “The answer you seek may be in the stars... or it just might be there alongside you.”

A New World In the Works?

There has been some rumor I've recently become aware of that may indicate a world called Celestia. Could this world mentioned by Shellus Grufheart and Mr Rowley be the next world coming out?

Friendly has been talking about this possibility as well as some posts on Central.

If you have any info on this please comment and let me/us know.

Slow Loading Game? I've Found a Possible Cure

Once upon a time... when I would try to move from area to area or realm to realm in the game my character would take about 3 minutes to load. Sound familiar? A new character would load quickly but Grandmasters and teen-age wizards would take forever to load.

I found a solution that worked for me!

This idea came from my good friend Suri who suggested I use CCleaner (Piriform CCleaner)and CDefraggler. Sure enough after running these programs I was back to loading at a normal speed able to zoom from town to town and world to world.

If you are a "youngling" make sure you have a parent load and run these for you. There is always a slight risk involved as with installing and running anything but for me this worked wonders.

In honor of that here's a code for one lucky person.

Sick Days

Good things wizards don't get colds, but if they did I think they'd probably want to settle into a nice little tropical island home and put their feet up for a few days.

I've been doing the real world version of that without the tropical part.

Since I've been off for a little let's get straight to the codes :)
