Arena has come to this?

After Cody and I were wild bolted to death in each round of arena today including a solo match I did afterward for a grand total of 4 times in a ROW! This last time by Chris Boomslinger (myth) who took the time to quake, then put on storm blade and carefully remove each shield that i pu on. Finally he could use his precious bolt even though he had 7 power pips by that point and i had no shields. Because of this growing insanity which seems to have taken everyone by "Storm" in just this past couple days... I have been wondering is arena even worth it? When one spell (wild bolt with sniper on it) cast over and over and over again (chain bolting) decides the match?

One duo we played against were Life and Death school wizards. After shielding up it became apparent what their strategy was: using storm swords and NO native school spells besides healing, they just used minor strike to take off our storm shields and wild bolted us over and over until two hit in the same round, they even went so far as to put storm traps on us including treasure and elemental traps. Only twice in the match were other non-school spells thrown and probably out of nothing but sheer desperation because their wild bolt wouldn't show.

What can you do?

If you want to join with me in the cause of eliminating wild bolt from arena, please add to the comment thread and take the poll. King Isle needs to hear us loud and clear on this particular problem which is becoming increasingly more common.

Do they want us all to become single spell wizards? Is that what arena is about? Or do they want us to be creative using more than just one play?

I think, and back me up if you agree, that people that win with a wild bolt should earn no more than 1 rank point, if that, and no more than 3 tickets.

Hmm, why not just have the wild bolt spell disappear from the decks used in the arena and have them replaced by a weaker card?

I agree Vale. Part of the fun of dueling is to pit one school against the other. Despite what other people say about which school is stronger, I think it all depends on the wiizard and how they play their cards.

Since there's so little left to Grandmasters to do anymore but duel, I'd like for dueling to remain fun, challenging and interesting. With chain bolting, none of those three elements exists.

Thanks for pointing out this serious problem and providing a vehicle through which we might be heard.

Me myself is a storm wizard and I think wild bolt is maybe a little over powered, but I dont think it has to be taken out of the game. Maybe they just need to make it do like 600 damage or so, or like when you use it it takes away an amount of your health to prevent people from chain bolting.

I think they should put a wild bolt shield up after you attack, like they did with chain stunning.

hmm sounds resonable I (as a level 37 storm) see not much practicality in that spell I myself keep only one of them in my deck from what you say it seems to remove it from the areana sound like a good thing I my self have not dueled since level 21 on the live (I dueled on the first day of test to see the new areanas but it was far too easy) I have a friend who loves to dual from what she has said she has not run into the chain duels is this in the ranked or the practis? because if it is in ranked I believe that it is just that people want to win. If you want to fix all the problems with the areana it is not to remove a spell it is to remove the ranks.
This of course is only my oppinion.

While I feel your pain on this, I also can't participate in your poll. :)

I am an Ice wizard, but I feel that I need to give a point of view on this for storm. I do not think it would be proper to outright ban a spell from the arena, nor do I think it would be fair for a storm wizard to only get one rank for using their school spell.

That being said, I do think that something should be done about this. The best solution I can think of, to keep from taking away one of storms valid attacks, may be something like this:

Only one player on a team may select WB on any round. If any WB hits, there is a 2 round cool down before another can be tried.

Some excellent ideas here. Thanks for the thoughtful comments, I'm starting to like some of them more than my own idea. Please refer to this post and put your ideas on the messageboards on the main wizard site.

I completely support this idea and I think Ian has some good points. Bolting has become a big problem and I would love to be part of the solution. :)

I agree with you. I think that it should be an school only spell, non tradeable. I want to say that storm wizards have a right to use it as it is in their school, but even then....

Ok here's an idea for ya. There should be 2 arenas. One for the people who want to complete in their school and win by actual skill, where honor and gg actually exist. One where anything goes - bolt, treasures, whatever. I am so frustrated with the overusage of treasures in arena anymore as well, and not just bolt. I've seen so many baby warlords who have their gear simply because they use nothing but treasure in arena! HOW is that skill! I have no problem with the use of treasure, but when every card is treasure, that's just not right. LEARN TO USE YOUR SCHOOL.

it is chase jadegem again. i think you are right arena is not worth it. i have had a membership since october of 09 and i have discovered that low lvl people and lvls a little bit higher than me only use their so called "precious" treasure cards. I SAY NAY SIR.i have told players before in the arena that they are to chicken to face me with thier real cards. but they say its any easier way to kill with treasure cards. i say they are noobs (even if they are lvl 50). its not a fair way to win. so i agree with you that it is not worth the time or effort.

I agree. if you go in the arena then use your skill & not just your strongest card for a quick win. I mean is it fair to bring a gun into a swordfight? NO. So fight it out fair & square & may the best player win.
