Here is a cool video that indicates which pets are available and which are no longer known to exist.
I don't recall seeing Ice Hound on the list but that's the most sad case of all. Fire has a number of pets that throw high damage fire hits and or give other fire boosting stats. You have the Helephant pet, Fire zilla, Fire zilla -blade version, Magma colossus which procs fire blade and boosts fire damage. Even defender pig boosts fire stats. So what gives?! Ice has a droppable pet that gives ice snake and one that gives ice elf (one-time in-store card at Christmas time)
Firezilla casts a spell that's reserved typically for storm but adapted to hit fire. But when you get an Icezilla you get a storm hit that you can't use pips for.
At this point in the game, some would say well, ice gets lower hits because of it's shields. But how many wizards do you know that are serious about pvp who do not learn all the ice shields with the exception of the one school ice armor?
I think it's time to un-freeze IceHound! I miss you Spike!

But what about all the mythies? It's their pet, they would have to train up to epic to get it's card and it would do some ice damage that isn't very helpful to most of us. Having another orthrus card is very helpful and with Celestia coming we need all the help we can get. But then the icies suffer. But if we fix it for them then the mythies are in trouble, but if we fix it for them.... You see? It's a cycle that only can be broken by adding more pets! :) We all need some new more elite pets and cards, to make the game intresting. I think that in Celestia we *will* be getting some of that. We've just got to hang on.
I feel your pain, I really do :(
One of the worst things that can happen in games like this, I find, is when something, cool, amazing, and awesome is introduced, and then taken away. This is exactly what happend to the ice hound. It was something really great, something that just seemed to make the game a cooler place. And then it was taken away.
R.I.P. ice hound.
