Wizard101 Mount Contest Mount Contest!

Wizard101 went crazy and gave us 15 chessnut ponies to give away!!!  It almost makes me think my poll should have a category for some kinda mount-related update.  Because of the bonus ponies, we are expanding our contest thanks to the generosity of Wizard101 to include 15 Chestnut horse mounts!

There will be 3 ways to enter:
1) Draw a picture of a Wizard related character or Anime related picture for me to post (Email your drawings to:.  Your picture can be posted if you want me to or it can simply get you entered into the contest.  * you could randomly win one of 4 chestnut ponies with your drawing and 1 chestnut pony to the best drawing * For each drawing I'll contibute to the Japanese quake relief effort.
*** you can enter more than once by submitting additional drawings ***

Anime and Wizards for Japan (Contest for Codes)

*** I'm changing the contest a little to give more time for scanning or taking pictures of drawings ***
>>> The closing date will now be Sunday the 3rd of April <<<

We at Valerian's School for Wayward Wizards are still very concerned about the terrible tragedy in Japan and want to help in our own small way.  Send us drawings of anime characters and wizard characters in support of the Japan quake and Tsunami.  I will donate an amount based on how many entries we get.  I will donate a minimum of 25 cents for a face and 50 cents for a full character drawing.  Proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross supporting quake relief efforts in Japan.  Those of you who want to take up the donation challenge may also may want to pledge some donation and I encourage you to think of ways you can raise money to contribute.

Draw any anime character AND OR any scene of Japan AND OR anything relating to Wizard101.  The drawing should be emailed to  (without the spaces)

!!! ***** Sign your drawings with your Wizard name. ***** !!!

I'll post of all  appropriate pictures you submit and post a few of my own.

The best pictures will qualify for a code for a free game item!

You have until Sunday the 3rd... let the drawing begin!

-  not drawn by me :(  -
Nessa pointed out that not everyone knows how to get pictures into the computer to email.  I'd recommend taking a picture of it with a phone or digital camera.  If you have a scanner you can scan it in as a picture.  For those younger wizards, you may want to get a parent's help to get the picture on the computer and get them to send the picture for you.  Just remember to include your wizard name in the email and on the picture!

Here are some pictures of Japan to check out.

Pets wandering the spiral

I got a mysterious email from Kiersten Samwell...

"It seems as if the gate on the holding pen swung open & a stampede through the Spiral has occurred. We were trying to hold some of the pets back as holiday treats, but they were too anxious to make an appearance and escaped into the world. Enjoy!

Hmm, I don't know about you but I'm going to check this out!  Anyone have any interesting findings about this new phenomenon?

New World on the Way

You heard it here first last folks!  Well, we did our best at divining the future using our Wizard101 connections.  Considering Cody "scoup-writer" is awol at the moment we had to resort to the old fashioned way of finding out.

Here is the deal

The new world will be called Wintertusk and it's a completion of the Grizzleheim world and adventure line.  Wintertusk will have new areas for both high and low level wizards.

The update will have:
• New spells!

• Class related pets for Level 58 (each primary School)

• An underwater area for lower level characters. The underwater area will continue the story of the Crab King.

"Many additional surprises (we are saving some of the best details to reveal at a later date)."

We'll try to let you know as soon as we find out more.

Japan Quake and Tsunami

As you all probably know there was an earthquake and tsunami in Japan that has caused great destruction there.  The earthquake was one of the largest in history and has caused problems with a nuclear reactor that is leaking radiation.  I know this is a game site but I wanted to encourage you to reach out to our friends in Japan if you have money to give.  I also wanted to warn you to NEVER give money to groups that send you emails asking for money.  There is a strong chance that they are scams or hackers who are trying to take your money.

If you want to give... go straight to the charity web site of your choice.  (NOT by a link in an email)  For example the American Red Cross accepts charitable donations and will allow you to choose the cause of your choice to donate to.

I don't know if we have any wizards from Japan but if we do I hope they are safe and getting the help they need.

Farming For Quick Gold

If you are level 50 or above I recommend going to Dragonspyre and finding some monsters that are the opposite school from you.  Keep your deck lean with only a couple shields and a couple standard blades and a triblade in case.  Bring a friend and have some fun raking in the pet snacks and sellable items.  In many instances the gold you earn from DS battles is almost double what you get anywhere else. (even Celestia)

If you are lower than level 50 I'd recommend finding the same type of thing in an area just below your level.  If you are in DS look in Moo, if you are in Moo look in Krock etc.  The point is to pull the max number of enemies and hit them with whatever multi-hits you or your buddies have.

Try it out and let me know how it works for you.  Happy Wizarding!

The Sad Fate of Frost Cat

This cute little guy was available for a short time with a dragonblade and a balance blade.  No sooner did I hear about this awesome tip but that there were already update notes saying that they were about to adjust him.  This means that all the people that did hear about him and bought him for the very reason that he had two blades would be out of luck after the adjustment.

For those of you who got this COOL pet when it had the fully awesome setup, I feel bad.  There will be a lot fewer cats following wizards around after the change I'm sure.

stay frosty!
